Hey folks! I'm looking to upgrade my setup and need some recommendations. My budget is around $800-$1200. I'm interested in both traditional belt‑drive turntables and hybrid models with USB output for digitizing my collection. What are your top picks for sound quality, build, and value? Also, any tips on cartridges or phono preamps that pair well? Thanks in advance!

If you want pure analog, go for the Rega Planar 3. It's a classic and fits nicely within your budget. Pair it with an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge and a decent external phono stage like the Pro-Ject Phono Box S2. For hybrid, check out the Audio-Technica AT‑LP120XUSB. It has a built‑in preamp and USB output, plus a high‑torque motor. The AT‑VM95E cartridge that comes with it is a solid starter. Both give excellent sound, so it boils down to whether you value the “true vinyl” feel or the convenience of digitizing.

I love the hybrid route. The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO is a bit pricier (around $1150), but the carbon‑fiber tonearm and the Ortofon 2M Red give it a step‑up in detail. It also has a built‑in phono preamp (switchable). If you want to stay under $1000, the Fluance RT85 is another great belt‑drive with an acrylic platter and a high‑quality cartridge. Lastly, don't forget proper isolation – a good rubber mat or turntable stand can really improve performance.
