Custom Water Cooling Build Log – RTX 4090

Posted by GigaGuru on Sep 9, 2025

After weeks of planning, I finally completed a custom loop for my RTX 4090. Below are the components, the build process, and performance results.

Components

  • EVGA RTX 4090 FTW3 Ultra
  • EK-Quantum Vector² RTX 4090 D-RGB Water Block
  • EK-Quantum Velocity² D5 Pump/Reservoir Combo
  • XR-5 4‑inch Radiators (2x)
  • EK‑Quantum Torque STC‑T 6‑Pin PCIe Power Connectors
  • Corsair Hydro X Series 50 mm Sleeved Hard Tubing
  • Coolant: EK‑CryoFuel (Black)

Installation Steps

  1. Removed stock cooler and installed the EK water block.
  2. Mounted the pump/reservoir combo at the bottom of the case.
  3. Routed tubing using zip ties for a clean look.
  4. Mounted the radiators on the top and front of the case.
  5. Filled the loop, bled air, and tested for leaks.
  6. Performed a stress test with 3DMark Time Spy.

Results

Idle temperature: 28 °C

Load temperature: 55 °C

Average power draw: 380 W

Water cooling loop

Great build! Did you notice any pump noise at high RPM?

I’m thinking of going for a similar setup. Any tips on tubing routing?

Also, how much coolant do you use?
