Initial Post

Hey everyone, I've been experiencing significant issues after updating to the latest GeForce driver (v545.97). My system, which usually runs perfectly, has started crashing randomly during gaming sessions, particularly with graphically intensive titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2. I've tried clean installations, rolling back to a previous version, and even adjusting in-game settings, but the problem persists.

My system specs:

CPU: Intel Core i9-13900K
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
RAM: 64GB DDR5
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z790-E
OS: Windows 11 Pro (Latest Updates)

Has anyone else encountered similar issues with this driver version? Any suggestions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

Same here! I thought it was just my setup. My RTX 3080 started acting up after the driver update. Random freezes and black screens. I'm on Windows 10, so it's not OS-specific.

Try disabling "Shader Cache" in the NVIDIA Control Panel. I found a thread on another forum suggesting it might be related. It worked for me after the 545.xx drivers broke things.

Re: Latest Stable Build Causing Crashes

@FixItAll That did the trick! Thanks! I disabled shader cache and haven't had a crash since. It's a shame NVIDIA can't get these drivers right.

For those who don't know how:

  1. Open NVIDIA Control Panel.
  2. Go to "Manage 3D Settings".
  3. Under "Global Settings", find "Shader Cache Size".
  4. Change it to "Disabled".
  5. Click "Apply".

Re: Latest Stable Build Causing Crashes

Update: I tried disabling Shader Cache as suggested by @FixItAll and @RedHex, and it seems to have resolved the crashing issue for me as well! Thank you both so much. I'll monitor it further, but for now, it's a huge relief.

This is definitely a bug with the 545.97 driver. Let's hope NVIDIA addresses it in the next release.
