Best Practices for Custom Water Cooling Loops

Posted by CoolGuy99 on Sep 12, 2025
Hey everyone! I'm planning my first custom loop and would love some advice on component selection and routing. Should I go for a single or dual reservoir setup? Any recommendations for reliable fittings and a safe coolant mix?

For a beginner, I’d stick with a single reservoir like the EK‑WB‑RG10. It’s compact and easy to fill. Use push‑type fittings (e.g., EK‑VF‑2.5) for reliability. As for coolant, a 50/50 mix of distilled water and pre‑mixed glycerin‑based coolant works great and reduces corrosion.

If you have space, a dual reservoir (one for coolant and one for a pump) can help maintain flow consistency and make maintenance easier. For fittings, I prefer compression fittings (e.g., Bitspower 10‑1/4) for a tighter seal, especially on high‑pressure sections.
