Hey everyone! I'm looking for a tablet that balances price and performance for digital drawing. I'm a university art student on a budget but need something that can handle Procreate and Adobe Fresco smoothly.

Features I'm after:

  • Pressure-sensitive stylus (or comes with one)
  • At least 8 GB RAM
  • Good color accuracy (sRGB 100%+)
  • Decent battery life for long sketch sessions

Any recommendations? Also, would love to hear about any accessories that improve the drawing experience.

I think the Apple iPad Air (5th gen) is a solid choice. It's a bit pricier than some Android tablets, but the M1 chip makes it super smooth, and the Apple Pencil (2nd gen) is fantastic for pressure sensitivity.

Pros:

  • 10.9" Liquid Retina display (sRGB 100%)
  • 8 GB RAM
  • Up to 10 hours battery life
  • Great app ecosystem (Procreate, Clip Studio, etc.)

Cons:

  • Only the 64 GB storage model is under $600; otherwise, it's $749.
  • No expandable storage.

Pair it with the Apple Pencil – you can get it for $129 (or find it used for less).

If you want to stay in the Android ecosystem, check out the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+. It comes with the S Pen included, which is excellent for drawing.

Key specs:

  • 12.4" Super AMOLED, 120 Hz, DCI‑P3 100%
  • 8 GB RAM, 128 GB storage (expandable via microSD)
  • 10 hours of battery

The price hovers around $650. You can also grab the Tab S7 FE for about $500, but the display is slightly lower quality.

Don't overlook the Wacom One. It's a 13.3" pen display that connects to your laptop. If you already have a decent laptop, this can be a cheaper way to get a high-quality drawing surface ($399).

Pros:

  • Full pressure sensitivity with 4096 levels
  • Accurate colors (99% sRGB)
  • Works with any Windows/macOS/Linux software

Cons:

  • Needs a host computer – not standalone
  • Heavier to carry around
