AM5 Boot Issues – No POST / Stuck on Splash Screen

Started by TechGuru42 on Sep 10, 2025 • 8 replies

Hey everyone, I just built a new AM5 system with a B650 motherboard, 32GB DDR5 and a Ryzen 7 7700X. The system powers on but never gets past the splash screen. No POST, no BIOS beep. I've double‑checked the CPU is seated, the GPU is connected, and the RAM is in the correct slots. Any ideas?

Make sure you’re using the latest BIOS. Many early B650 boards need a BIOS update to support the 7700X out of the box. If you can’t flash it without a CPU, try the “BIOS Flashback” feature if your board has it.

Also verify the Power Supply is delivering enough power on the 12V rail. Some lower‑wattage PSUs can cause the motherboard to stay in a power‑good state but never initialize the CPU.

@BuilderBob, I tried flashing the BIOS using the USB flashback button with a 2 GB USB stick. The board reported a successful flash but the issue persists.

If you have a secondary PCIe slot, try moving the GPU there. Some boards have a buggy primary slot when using certain BIOS versions.

Moved the GPU to the second slot, cleared CMOS, and removed all but one RAM stick. The board now POSTS and shows the BIOS screen. Turns out the BIOS needed a manual update to version 1.1.2. Thanks for the help!
