Best Note-Taking Apps 2024 - What's Your Go-To?

Posted by in Productivity Software | Last updated: 2024-07-26 10:30 AM

Hey everyone! With so many amazing note-taking apps out there, it's getting tough to choose the best one for our needs. Whether you're a student, professional, or just someone who likes to jot down ideas, I'd love to hear about your favorite note-taking apps for 2024. What features do you prioritize? What makes an app truly stand out?

I've been using Notion for the past year and it's been a game-changer. The flexibility with databases, pages, and templates is unparalleled. I use it for everything from project management to personal journaling. The collaboration features are also top-notch for team projects.

However, I'm always curious to see what else is out there. What are your thoughts on apps like Obsidian for markdown-based, local-first notes, or Evernote for its long-standing reliability?

I'm with you on Notion for its power, but sometimes it feels a bit overkill for quick thoughts. I've recently been diving into Obsidian and I'm loving the local-first approach. The graph view is fascinating for seeing connections between ideas, and the plugin ecosystem is fantastic for customization.

For sheer simplicity and speed, I still find myself defaulting to Google Keep for grocery lists and quick reminders. It's hard to beat its effortless syncing across devices.

I'm a bit of a minimalist when it comes to my notes. I really appreciate applications that are focused and don't try to do *everything*. For me, that's Bear. It's elegant, uses Markdown, and the tagging system is superb. It's perfect for writing articles, coding snippets, and general thoughts.

I've tried Evernote in the past, and while it's powerful, I found its interface to be a bit cluttered. What are people's experiences with OneNote these days? I remember it being quite robust for handwriting and sketching.

OneNote is still quite good, especially if you're in the Microsoft ecosystem! It's great for freeform notes, drawing, and integrating with other Office apps. The web clipper is also very useful for saving articles.

I'm trying to explore more options for cross-platform syncing. Does anyone have recommendations for a note-taking app that has excellent Linux support as well as mobile apps? Trying to break away from platform lock-in!

Great points everyone! It's clear that the "best" app really depends on individual needs. For those looking for Linux support, I've heard good things about Joplin. It's open-source, supports Markdown, and has end-to-end encryption. Might be worth looking into!
