Hey everyone!

I'm looking to step up my editing game and would love to hear about your favorite editing techniques and the apps you swear by. Whether it's for video, photo, or even code snippets, any advice is welcome!

I'm particularly interested in:

  • Efficient workflow tips
  • Creative transitions and effects
  • Must-have plugins or extensions
  • Cross-platform tools

What are you guys using to make your projects shine?

Looking forward to your insights!

Great topic, Alex!

For video editing, I'm a huge fan of DaVinci Resolve. The free version is incredibly powerful, and it handles pretty much everything I throw at it. For color grading, it's unmatched.

Technique-wise, I've found that mastering keyboard shortcuts for your chosen NLE (Non-Linear Editor) is a game-changer for speed. Also, learning about proxy workflows for handling large footage is essential.

For motion graphics, After Effects is the industry standard, but if you want something more accessible, Fusion (built into Resolve) is also fantastic.

Hey Alex and ByteMaster!

I'm mostly into photo editing. For me, Adobe Lightroom is my daily driver for cataloging and initial edits. It's incredibly intuitive for managing large photo libraries and making quick adjustments. When I need more advanced retouching or compositing, Photoshop is my go-to.

A technique I've found really useful is using selective adjustments and masks instead of applying global filters. It gives so much more control over the final look. Also, developing a consistent style with your editing presets can really help build your brand identity.

For more artistic digital painting/sketching, I use Procreate on my iPad, which is amazing for its brush engine and simplicity.

Thanks for the awesome input, ByteMaster and Creative_Soul!

DaVinci Resolve sounds very promising, and I've heard great things about its color grading. I definitely need to invest more time in learning keyboard shortcuts – it's true, efficiency is key!

Creative_Soul, Lightroom and Photoshop are staples for a reason. I agree about selective adjustments; they make a huge difference in achieving a polished look. Procreate is also on my radar!

Anyone else have tips for streamlining workflow or unique effects they use? Especially curious about code editing tools for markdown or syntax highlighting that look good!
