What is Zapier?

Zapier is a web-based service that allows users to connect two or more applications together to automate repetitive tasks without the need for coding. It uses "Zaps" which are automated workflows that can send your information from one app to another.

Connecting Your Account

To get started with Zapier integrations, you'll first need to authorize Zapier to access your account. Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Zapier account.
  2. Navigate to the "My Apps" section.
  3. Click "Add connection" and search for "Our Platform".
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to authenticate your account using your API key or by logging in directly.

Here are some common ways users integrate our platform with other services:

  • Automated Notifications: Send notifications to Slack or Microsoft Teams when a new record is created or updated.
  • CRM Synchronization: Automatically add new leads from your website form to your CRM (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
  • Task Management: Create new tasks in Asana or Trello based on specific triggers in our platform.
  • Data Backup: Save new data entries to Google Sheets or Dropbox for easy backup and analysis.

Creating Your First Zap

Let's walk through a simple example: Creating a new Google Sheet row every time a new item is added to our platform.

Step 1: Trigger

In Zapier, create a new Zap. Select "Our Platform" as the trigger app. Choose the "New Item Added" trigger event.

Step 2: Connect Your Account

If you haven't already, connect your "Our Platform" account to Zapier.

Step 3: Action

Select "Google Sheets" as the action app. Choose the "Create Spreadsheet Row" action event.

Step 4: Configure Action

Select your Google Sheet and the specific worksheet. Map the fields from "Our Platform" (e.g., Item Name, Date Created) to the corresponding columns in your Google Sheet.

Example field mapping:

Platform Item Name -> Google Sheet Column A (Item) Platform Date Created -> Google Sheet Column B (Date) Platform Status -> Google Sheet Column C (Status)

Step 5: Test and Turn On

Test your Zap to ensure it works correctly. Once satisfied, turn on your Zap!

Troubleshooting Common Issues

If your Zap isn't working as expected:

  • Check Connection Status: Ensure your connected accounts in Zapier are healthy.
  • Review Trigger/Action Settings: Verify that the correct trigger events and action settings are selected.
  • Examine Sample Data: Use the "Test trigger" and "Test action" features in Zapier to see the data being passed.
