What is DNS?

DNS is the system that translates human-readable domain names (like google.com) into machine-readable IP addresses (like 172.217.1.1).

Why is it important?

Without DNS, we'd have to remember the IP addresses for every website we visit, which is impractical.

Different records include:

• A Record: Maps a domain name to an IP address
• CNAME Record: Creates an alias for a domain name
• MX Record: Specifies mail servers for a domain
• NS Record: Specifies the primary nameservers for a domain

This is the IP address for Google.
