Windows SDK 23H2 – New Features & Improvements

Overview

The Windows 23H2 SDK adds new APIs, performance enhancements, and tooling updates that enable developers to build modern Windows experiences faster. This release aligns with the latest Windows 11 features, improving support for AI, gaming, and cross‑device scenarios.

New APIs

Windows AI Integration (winrt.ai) +

Provides access to on‑device AI inference, including text, vision, and speech models. See winrt.ai reference for details.

Game Mode Enhancements (winrt.game) +

New APIs to query and control Game Mode, enabling better resource allocation for high‑performance games.

Enhanced Clipboard (winrt.clipboard) +

Supports rich data formats and per‑app clipboard history.

Improvements & Fixes

Compatibility

The 23H2 SDK is backward compatible with apps targeting Windows 10 version 1809 and later. Projects built with previous SDK versions can be upgraded by updating the TargetPlatformVersion property.

The installer includes the MSVC toolset, Windows headers, libraries, and the latest WinUI 3 components.
