Hey everyone!
I've been wanting to jump onto the AM5 platform for a while now, but the initial cost was a major barrier. After months of hunting for deals and making some smart compromises, I've finally put together what I believe is a fantastic budget-friendly AM5 build. I wanted to share the process and the final result with you all!
The Goal: Affordable AM5 Performance
My main goal was to get a system that could handle modern gaming at 1440p and also provide a solid foundation for future upgrades, all without breaking the bank. I focused on value-oriented components that still offered good performance.
Component List:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600
- CPU Cooler: Thermalright Assassin King 120 SE
- Motherboard: ASRock B650M PG Riptide WiFi
- Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
- Storage: Crucial P3 Plus 1TB NVMe SSD
- GPU: XFX Speedster SWFT 309 Radeon RX 7600 (Found on sale!)
- Case: Montech AIR 100 ARGB Micro-ATX
- Power Supply: Corsair RM750e (2023) 750W 80+ Gold Fully Modular
- Operating System: Windows 11 Home
The Build Process
Putting it all together was a pretty standard affair. The Micro-ATX motherboard fit nicely into the compact case, and cable management was surprisingly manageable thanks to the case's design and the modular PSU. I took my time, double-checking connections at each step.

The Thermalright cooler is an absolute beast for its price, keeping the Ryzen 5 7600 temps well in check. I managed to snag the RX 7600 on a pretty aggressive sale, which was the biggest win for this build.
Performance and Initial Impressions
I've run a few benchmarks and games, and I'm thoroughly impressed. Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p with medium-high settings averages around 70-80 FPS, which is exactly what I was hoping for. The DDR5-6000 CL30 RAM is a sweet spot for Ryzen 7000 series CPUs, and it's noticeable.

For a budget build, the overall responsiveness and gaming performance are outstanding. The B650M motherboard offers all the essential features I need, including PCIe 5.0 for the GPU (though the RX 7600 doesn't utilize it fully, it's future-proofing!).
Future Upgrade Path
The beauty of AM5 is the long socket lifespan AMD has promised. This means I can easily drop in a future Ryzen 8000 or 9000 series CPU without needing a new motherboard. I'm also planning to eventually upgrade the GPU to something more powerful for 4K gaming.
Overall, I'm extremely happy with this budget AM5 build. It proves that you don't need to spend a fortune to get into the latest generation of PC hardware.
Let me know what you think or if you have any questions!
