Welcome to SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a server-based report generating software system from Microsoft. It is part of a suite of SQL Server services, including Integration Services (SSIS) and Analysis Services (SSAS). SSRS provides a range of tools and services to create, deploy, and manage reports for an organization.

Architecture Overview

SSRS operates on a three-tier architecture:

  1. Report Designer – Visual Studio or Report Builder used to design reports.
  2. Report Server – Hosts the report execution engine, storage, and management services.
  3. Report Manager / Web Portal – Allows users to view, manage, and subscribe to reports.

Getting Started

To create your first report:

  1. Install SQL Server Reporting Services and configure the Report Server.
  2. Use Report Builder or Visual Studio to design a report.
  3. Deploy the report to the Report Server using the Deploy option.
  4. Access the report through the Web Portal at http://<server>/reports.
